We live in a space where nature and the city coexist, but human beings have an endless claim on nature, and all resources are consumed as a matter of course. Can cities grow indefinitely? And when will nature die out? The artist Sim Chan and the LLAB Design, from the perspective of urban landscape and natural plants respectively, use art installations to provoke conflicts and thoughts between humans and their surroundings, hoping that humans will wake up from the endless consumption and put an end to the day when every scene and object may disappear.

Sim Chan uses a series of light art installations to construct an endless urban scene - a cargo space with layers of advancement, an aquarium built of plastic foam, and a town with continuous development of buildings ...... to construct an infinite and boundless urban scene with a miniature perspective, allowing the audience to In the real world and the mirror image, the viewers are intertwined in the familiar and unfamiliar daily life of human beings.

LLAB Design draws on over a hundred rare plants that have disappeared or are in danger of extinction, and uses seemingly hard but fragile materials to show the beauty of these plants as hard and strong. They may seem unreal, but they were real. Have we ever seen what kind of flowers can bloom in the future if we continue to overdevelop them endlessly?

ARTIST

陈闪 Sim Chan

Sim Chan graduated from the Hong Kong Art School, majoring in painting. His early works were mostly about urban architecture, documenting and expressing what he knew and felt about the city; using painting or installation to reflect on the relationship between himself and his situation, documenting the process of exploring back and forth between imagination and reality, consciousness and form. In recent years, his works are not confined to the established forms of the painting medium, and the exploration and study of light has become the theme of his works in recent years.

He has participated in various art exhibitions since 2007, and his works have been exhibited all over the world. In 2011 and 2013, he was selected for the Outstanding Asian Art Award, and in 2013, he was selected for the Perspective Magazine's "40 under 40" Award, and in the same year, he was invited to create a public art installation at the Hong Kong Arts Center. 2014, he was selected to create a large-scale public art installation and painting work in the Queen Elizabeth Stadium for the "Art in the Government Buildings 2013-14. In 2014, he was selected to create a large-scale public art installation and painting at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium for the "Arts in Government Buildings 2013-14". 2016, he participated in the 15th Venice International Architecture Biennale - Hong Kong exhibition "The Art of Architecture". His works are part of the public art collection of the Art Promotion Office and private collections in Hong Kong and overseas.

Does 'infinity' really exist in the world? Or is it just a human fantasy? This time, he continues with the theme of urban development, "In the Endless", with a series of light art installations, presenting an "endless" scene, leading the audience to travel between reality and surreality. Through a variety of scenarios, ranging from trivial objects in daily life to grandiose urban projects, the "In the Endless" series reveals mankind's infinite desires and pursuits, as well as its endless consumption and destruction. With the scenes before us, we reflect on the distorted daily life.

LLAB Design is a branding and design company founded by Trade Leung and Mike Wong in 2010, providing different types of design and promotional solutions through cross-media platforms. "LLAB" means "love + lab", with love and empathy as the starting point, exploring every possibility with a creative and adventurous spirit. This belief is honored in every piece of work they create, some of which have won international design awards, including the German Design Award, the Global Design Award, the Asia Pacific Most Influential Design Award, the A'Design Award, and the Golden Dot Design Award, to name a few. "Contradictions create a terrible but beautiful world". The work "Blooming Contradictions" is an exploration of the design duo LLAB Design's thoughts on themselves and the world. They hope to express this paradoxical situation and helplessness through the process of creation, the use of materials and the finished work, what kind of flowers will this paradox blossom for the future?
