Chinese director Midi Zhao, born in Burma, is one of the first students of the Golden Horse Film Academy. founded by Hou Xiaoxian. The amazing thing is that his debut Return to Burma became the finalist of more than 20 film festivals. Subsequently, each of his films received high praise. His third long film Ice Poison represented Taiwan in the Oscar race for Best Foreign Language film. This year, his film won eight nominations for Best Director, Best Story Film and Best Documentary Film in the Golden Horse Award.

In this section, his featured films “Homecoming trilogy”: Return to Burma , Poor Folk, Ice Poison and two documentary films : Jade Miners, City of Jade will be screened. It is the first time to screen Zhao’s films intact in the mainland and he will attend the screening to communicate with audiences.
